Proactive Traffic Operation in Sale

Officers from the Trafford Neighbourhood Team carried out a high-visibility proactive traffic operation on Manor Avenue, Sale, yesterday, with a particular focus on the Fatal 5 offences, which are recognised as the leading contributory factors in serious and fatal road traffic collisions.

Throughout the operation, a number of vehicles were stopped and subjected to checks. Several drivers were dealt with through words of advice and road safety education, promoting safer and more responsible driving within the community.

As a result of the operation, officers identified and dealt with the following offences and incidents:

4 x Traffic Offence Reports issued for vehicles with no valid MOT.

2 x Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act searches conducted, with one search resulting in the discovery of cannabis.

2 x roadside breath tests administered, both returning negative results.

2 x roadside drug screening tests (DrugWipe) conducted, both returning negative results.

Operations such as these play a vital role in improving road safety, disrupting criminality, and ensuring that vehicles being used on our roads are legal, safe and roadworthy. By targeting the Fatal 5 offences and maintaining a visible presence within our communities, officers help to reduce the risk of serious injury and keep our roads safer for everyone.
